12 companies in a Pool PPA

On behalf of 12 customers, Energi Danmark has signed an agreement which means that Better Energy will build a new solar park. The PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) shows how more companies can pull together and contribute to the green transition.

With PPAs, companies actively adds new renewable energy to society through the construction of either solar parks or wind turbines. In this agreement, 12 customers – Blue Energy, GN Group, Bravida, Scan Global Logistics, PA Savværk and Wiking Gulve , Tempur Sealy, Labelco, Scanpan, Malte Haaning Plastic, Petersen Tegl, Polyprint and Egmont – join forces and pool their electricity demand to supply newly built sustainable energy to the community.

Making it easy to take part in the green transition

In 2021, 12 customers gave Energi Danmark their mandate to enter into a final agreement with a developer of new renewable energy. With the customers’ mandates in hand, Energi Danmark has entered into an agreement with Better Energy regarding the construction of a solar park in Jutland. The project meets all requirements for location, commissioning date, price and additionality – meaning the agreement ensures that new green electricity is built and produced in Denmark.

We are incredibly proud of this agreement. We have succeeded in making it easy for customers to make a difference in the green transition. The customers show us great confidence, and we are pleased that we have succeeded in finding a project that meets all the requirements that the customers agreed to

Prioritize substainability and a lower price risk in your next agreement

Companies can make a world of difference for the green transition by demanding new and subsidy-free power. By pooling their electricity demand, these 12 different companies are really leading by example. Their accumulated demand will result in new and additional renewable energy, which is what we need to reach our climate targets.
Peter Munck Søe-Jensen, Executive Vice President for Power Solutions in Better Energy

Energi Danmark handles the entire setup

With the agreement, the 12 customers have Energi Danmark as their direct counterparty. This means that Energi Danmark handles the entire setup, meaning the contact with the developer, the electricity supply itself and the risk management. As a result, the customers get a simple and clear settlement based on their actual consumption as Energi Danmark also handles balancing of consumption and production.

The final location of the new solar is awaiting final approval. The solar park is expected to be completed in Q1 2023 and produce approx. 70,000 MWh annually, corresponding to the electricity consumption for approx. 18,000 households.

The agreement gives all companies the opportunity to enter a sustainable electricity agreement. We see great potential in helping customers in the Nordic countries and Germany to actively contribute to the green transition.
