Shortly after Søren completed his studies in 2019, he landed a job with Group Legal in Energi Danmark. During his studies, he had a student job with a parking company, in which he gained extensive experience of working with data protection.
"For me, it has been a really positive experience to find a job where there is a combination of a legal area of which I am experienced, while also being thrown into tasks that I have not previously worked with," explains Søren, before adding:
"It has been really interesting to get to know the energy sector and to learn exactly how you trade with the various energy sources. When you work as part of a company with a small legal department, the tasks are varied and you have to familiarise yourself with all aspects of the organisation. And because I have previously worked on GDPR, I have also been able to contribute a great deal of knowledge within this area and have rapidly been given great responsibility."
As a lawyer with Energi Danmark, Søren's work comprises a broad range of different tasks. Among other things, the lawyers ensure that we comply with the legal requirements we are subject to, they also review a wealth of contracts and negotiate these contracts with external parties. And, according to Søren, this all requires a great understanding of the business:
"I consider the energy sector, overall, to be a really interesting area. Energy, and especially the growing focus on renewable energy, is something that I am really interested in and I believe that it is an area in which there will continue to be major developments taking place in the next few years," he says.
During his high school days, Søren was the Danish U20 champion in alpine skiing and he recently participated in the European skater hockey championships. He says that his experience of being a part-time professional athlete helped him become independent and responsible at an early age:
"In an elite sport environment, great demands will always be placed on you. At a young age, I had to travel without my parents and it was always my own responsibility to balance training and leisure time, while also having to do practical stuff like looking after my equipment and cooking. But it has also given me a great deal of incredible experiences," he explains.
In addition to his interest in sport, Søren loves to visit his parents' farm together with his girlfriend. There he enjoys the beautiful nature and tries his hand at various activities such as cider brewing, home-smoking, foraging for mushrooms or even deer hunting
