In 2018, furnished with his Masters of Economics and Business Administration Degree from Aarhus Business School, Peter soon became interested in the Strategic Business Developer role with Energi Danmark. Alongside his studies, he had gained work experience as a project manager for a sports festival arranged as part of the Aarhus European Capital of Culture in 2017 and later as an apprentice and student assistant with the consultancy firm, Hildebrandt and Brandi.
"There were actually two areas I really wanted to work on after completing my education, namely strategy and business development. I found both of these areas to be extremely interesting during my time at university. This is also because I, as a person, am driven by execution and development," Peter explains.
His role at Energi Danmark gave him the opportunity to combine exactly those two areas in a single role.
Peter's work brings him into contact with the entire organisation, as it consists of supporting management in the deployment of internal strategy through e.g. breaking down the Energi Danmark Group's overall objectives into manageable KPIs for middle managers. These KPIs are collated in an objective management report that is presented to the executive management team, thereby providing a comprehensive overview of the Group. At the same time, he is also seeking out new business areas through projects, typically in cooperation with external business partners.
"Even though I started as a recent graduate, I have been given free rein to try out a large number of things and to influence processes, workflows, etc. at Energi Danmark," Peter explains and continues:
"At the same time, it is important not to be afraid of jumping into something you haven't tried before, or to ask about something you may have asked about before."
Outside of work, Peter plays football in an "exile team" in which all the players come from his hometown in Ringkøbing Skjern municipality.
"It is a great way to nurture social relationships from home. It is also a great network with people working in a variety of different professions. New residents are helped by those who have lived and studied in Aarhus for many years, which really helps new recruits feel comfortable in a new environment", Peter states.
The exile football team from Ringkøbing Skjern has received sponsorship for playing kit from Ringkøbing Skjern municipality, as well as businesses local to their home region. It has been such a great success that the project has been mentioned in several news and radio broadcasts.
